semi-edible earrings. minus the ribbon and silver post. they helped inspire the dried fruit rings that I started to make. they were made around mid-february. can you guess the material? hint, it isn’t vegan…
and it isn’t plastic… and if these earrings ever got wet, they’d no longer exist…
it’s…. gelatin! i’m always seeking out paper like materials to work with, and gelatin was a natural choice. by itself, its such a beautiful material – the way it’s clear, flexes, has that lovely pattern, and of course the way it transforms with a bit of water. i am tempted to soak them in water, then let them dry, to see what happens. perhaps a second pair is coming soon!
